The Ministry of Tourism in India is participating at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival to promote India as a filming destination, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

In the past, several Indian destinations have gained tourist influx by being the location of popular domestic and international movies. The Oscar-winning film, Life of Pi, was shot in Puducherry and Munnar (Kerala), and the Ministry of Tourism (MOT) is promoting these destinations as the “Land of Pi.”

The joint participation of the MOT and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting comes after signing the Memorandum of Understanding to promote cinema of India as a sub-brand of “Incredible India.” This will be promoted at international film festivals like IFFI Goa, the European Film Market, and the Cannes Film Festival, and markets abroad.
