The African Airline Association’s (AFRAA) Secretary General Dr. Elijah Chingosho at last evening’s gala dinner for delegates, which was sponsored by ATNS, announced the winners for four special awards which honored exceptional performance and dedication to quality services in the aviation industry in Africa.

The first award went to the Ethiopian Aviation Academy for the contributions the institution has made in the past towards training staff at all levels and creating a generation of skilled personnel who can hold their own against anyone in the world.

The second award for best ICT services went to SITA for their provision of quality ICT services to airlines across the continent.

A special dedication was given to AFRAA’s fuel cooperative management team who were responsible over the past years to make major savings for participating airlines worth multi-million US dollars.

The last award for best aviation service provider went to South Africa’s Engen aviation fuel company for their outstanding service levels over the years.

With day one successfully concluded in the late afternoon with the so called “Master Class” there remains one more day of interactive sessions, presentations and one final panel session, like the opening session moderated by this correspondent, before the 3rd AFRAA Convention for Aviation Suppliers and Stakeholders ends tomorrow evening.

The next AFRAA Annual General Assembly will later this year be held in the Algerian capital Algiers from November 9 and 11 and will be hosted by national airline Air Algeria. For more information visit www.afraa.org
