Turistička lopta u hotelu i kasinu Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay

The Tourism Ball is this year being held at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Hotel & Casino and is part of a series of activities to mark Tourism Week this year. The theme for World Tourism Day this year is ‘Tourism and Water protecting our Common Future’.
To add a twist to this year’s edition of Tourism Week, the Tourism Board and the Ministry of Tourism and Culture is holding the ball at the beginning of the week, rather than at the end as has been the case over the last couple of years. Those attending the prestigious ball should be at Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Hotel & Casino at 1900 hrs for the official opening of the annual ball where the ‘Who’s Who’ in Seychelles is again blocking their company or organisation’s tables. The event is expected to again provide opportunities for the business community and Members of the Government to meet and discuss outside normal office meetings.

During that time, guests may expect to be impressed by the unveiling of the new Miss Seychelles Islands… Another World poster, while more deserving local tourism establishments will be presented with the Seychelles Sustainable Tourism Label (SSTL) certificates.

As has become customary during the Tourism Week celebrations, there will also be special entertainment at the arrival lounge at the International Airport at Pointe Larue, by the duo Felix Lawen and Chanel Kilindo – visitors will experience the renowned warm Seychellois welcome through as soon as they set foot on the Seychelles soil. “This year we have a series of activities catering for the visitors in Seychelles during the Tourism week; but we also have many activities where Seychellois and visitors will participate together. For instance the special mass at the Ste. Theresa Plaisance Parish is one that will hopefully bring both the locals and the visitors together,” explained the Events and Conferencing Manager at the Tourism Board, Beryl Matatiken.

To note the office for Migrant Workers in the catholic faith, headed by Father Louison Emerick Bissila Mbila is championing this mass – with the full approval and backing of the Seychelles Tourism Board.

Ms Matatiken also explained that the Tourism Board has not forgotten the island of La Digue in its activities – which is only natural, considering the island with its pristine beaches and tranquillity is a well known Tourist destination in its own right. “We have joined forces with the island’s Ile Vanille committee and we will be assisting them to organise a barbecue gala on La Digue during the 2013 World Tourism Week. We expect it to be a continuation of what is being held on the main island on Mahe” added Ms Matatiken.

Other activities planned for this year’s edition of the Tourism Week due to close on Saturday 28 September include a Trade Fair at the International Conference Centre of Seychelles (ICCS), a special edition of the Bazar Labrin held at Beau Vallon held with the help of the Beau Vallon district administration office and special ‘clean up the beach campaign’ by the Tourism Board staff.
